Green

Green is a movie that makes you feel so sad and depressed. It was an eye opener and gives you a new look on the world of animal captivity. The movie shows the secrets and lies of the business. Giving you the story of a dieing monkey and how it gets captured. Showing you how you think something so small can be so big and you never think about what really happens. You only see the nice side of animal captivity and never wonder the bad. I never wondered how the system really works and what really goes on with the animals. This movie showed everything from the deforestation to how the monkey died. The movie had no language just music in the background which made it more interesting and made you pay attention more. It was like watching a movie with caption you had to watch everything to get the movie. The deforestation made the whole movie more informative and convincing. It gave the movie another look at how the forest gets destroyed because of our needs and wants. It mostly our wants and we don't know how it all happens.
The movie gives you a feeling of guilt and regret. All of our consumption, destroys so much of our world and the animal world. People think they are doing their job by saving the animals and their lives but they are really destroying the only life they have left. All of our greed and power makes everything worst and we never think of how it is destroying the earth. We have all we need but still we take more and more, until we realize there is no more. I think the movie was mostly about all the deforestation and animal captivity

Class Movie

I really did know what to say about this movie, it was okay at the beginning and than it got to crazy at the end. I think that its okay to be gay but i really don't like seeing all the kissing and touching. I think gay men are the hardest to see kissing and touch that's just not right but they have the right to do what they want. Girls are okay but still its not right and seeing them kiss is so weird. Gay to me is okay but I just wish they keep it secret, not so public.
People do have their own feelings about this issue and some go to extreme measures to fight against gay people. Movies such as this one would cause so much commotion in society because it shows everything. I didn't like the end it was to much for me, I wanted to leave the classroom. My family is against gay couples and do not like the fact that they are out there. We don't really care or think about it but we don't deny that its out there.
I have gay friends and it does gross me out when they do all the kissing and touching but they are such good people. I just hate when the gay men try to hard to act like woman. They think they know how it is to be a woman, when in reality they have no idea. It bothers me so much when gay men try to talk like woman too, it annoys me so much. Other than that I do love my gay friends because they have deeper sympathy than other people.

Making the Man,Courting Condi

This movie was so interesting, stupid, funny, and very informational. At the beginning I guess you call them previews, but they were little movies. The first one I did not get at all and the second one was annoying until the end. All of them were very interesting though and you thought of why they made these movies.
The first little movie to me made no sense at all. I kept thinking about what it meant and still have no idea of what it was about. It was a bunch of fire hydrates in a line, crawling around in the dirt. Maybe it was about wildfires, i don't know it was so weird.
The second little movie was at first questionable too and annoying. It got boring because they just ask him questions over and over and over. He was acting all stupid too, he kept getting the answers wrong or they had to tell him what to say. He was very weird and made u want to hit him or something. But at the end you understand why they did this interview with this guy. It was very surprising and made u think of how businesses are run.
Now for the main movie, Courting Condi which was really different from anything i have ever seen. The movie is about a guy who falls in love with the Secretary Of State, Condoleezza Rice. He has ever meet her or seen her in real life just on TV. He makes her movies or you can call them music videos for her about how much he loves her and that he wants to meet and marry her. He begins to find out about her life, by visiting her family and friends. Where she was born, her schools she attended, her church, and even tried to visit her mom. Well he did this he changed himself for her. He travels all over the U.S.A to find out about her and what she did to became this lady she is now. He fall so in love with her and than finds out what she is really about. Everything she did for President Bush and the Iraq war. All the lies she told to make Bush look good. Singing papers to kill thousands of people and covering up the evidence. She is a very powerful woman who lets her power go to far. But in the end after finding out everything about her he stops loving her and begins to hate her. He stops making those movies for her and begins to rebel her. Overall he never meets her and just starts to hate her and goes on with his own life.
The movie in a way gave u so much information even though it was weird. it opened my eyes to what really goes on in the White House and all the secrets. All the lies we are told and how we believe the news and press. I guess the truth came out of this movie and in that the movie was good.

Class and My Thoughts

Class this week was very interesting week, I learned a lot and it was very interested in everything we watched and learned. Everything we discussed or watched really made me think about media and what it does to our life. I wondered what the world would be like without media. Would it be a more peaceful place, more respectful society, or would the world be worst? How would kids of this generation act, talk, and be defined as a person to society or peers? Would the economy be as strong as it is or would it be in more danger? How would we look at the world or our community without media?
I thought about so much and how my childhood and those of my little nieces' and nephews' differ so much. They grew up with TV, since they were babies and I finally got TV when I was 7 years old. That's a whole 7 years, babies learn so much in one and with that I see such a difference in how they act and talk. I was always outside running around or helping my dad fix stuff. My little nieces and nephews are no where near that. They can barely clean the house and they are so lazy and really don't do much and just watch TV. We started to turn the TV off and make them work and started to limit the amount of TV watched. At first they were mad but after a while they spent more time outside than in and are very independent.
We as a nation depend so much on media, we would probably go insane without it. We all have to have the latest news in a flash or click of a bottom. We all need to know whats going on 24/7 and never think bout the real problems that are from media. All the wrong messages, false information or how this even got to be media. Media is one of the most important aspect in our lives today. We just look the other way and pretend its not and go on with life. But in reality we are always looking for whats new and what entertains us. There will never be a moment that media is not part of our lives because some how everything revolves around it.
Going back to the two classes this week, I learned that even though media is all around us and will never go away, that we have to be away from it for awhile. If not we will all get caught up in this reality that is not true most of the time. From the presentation of the Porche and Brittany Spears. I mean Porche is not the only luxury car or ride out there and if you don't buy one you are not safisicated. Even though you look, sing, or dance like Brittany Spears, people are still gonna hate you. The films we watched were very interesting, scary, and intense. We heard a whole documentary on and i didn't know how he was and did. No matter how big you get or are, most people will not know you. It is all just a big cycle of who you know and how you are represented to society. They will know and love you one day and than in a blink of a eye, you are hated everywhere.

My Tradition

The Navajo culture and traditions are what make me what i am today. We have so many beliefs and stories to go with our beliefs. We all go and help each other even though we don't know one another. As long as we are there and don't have anything to do, we all start helping each other. Some think they are better and don't have to do anything but they realize that they ain't and will start helping. We have our ceremonies where the main person gets cured and everyone else gets blessed. Tradition is very powerful and I respect it to the end.
It is what I wish everyone one had so they can know who they are. Why the sun raises and moon comes out at night. Just the stories why life is here and how it got here. Believe in something other than corporations, media, and how you are suppose to live. What society has made up this way of living and if you don't live like that, you are a failure. I live two lives but know how to balance them out because of my teachings and beliefs.
Living in two different societies can be a little confusing but it is very rewarding because of all the knowledge i get from both. It will make you or break you but i think they both balance each other out for me. I invest in both because they are why i am how i am. Without both i would probably be lost and be all crazy like these celebraties.
Just from my life as society wants it to be and how my culture wants it, I can only go so far into both of them. When i go home it's all about hard work and respecting the people around me. Doing everything I'm told by my parents or alders. But here at school i can be as lazy as i want and no one will get mad at me or i can do whatever i want and still no one gets made or punishes me. So these are very different and in a way keep me homble.

How We All Try

As society today try to make life better, more livable and fulfilling. We all work so hard to enjoy this world and whats in it but in reality we are just running ourselves dry. We don't realize that we all work for someone and that no matter how much we would like to do all the things we wish for, but its not gonna happen. It could happen but we have to give up somethings for it and in that sense we are not fulfilled with our chose and will regret it.
Everything is so interesting and crazy at the same time. People would do anything just to make a dollar and with that where do you see society in 20 years. With the economy always going up and down, we never know when everything can end. Than what will we do if everything just stops and we will all start to do what? We can try to fix it but everyone will just give up and begin to go crazy or start to destroy. People follow the crowd so everything will be very crazy.
The future generations are all skewed because of the earlier generations and this generation now. Everything we do to destroy this world we live on and we don't even care. Some people do and are trying to do something about the problems we face today but it only leads to more problems. We try to say we don't contribute to the affect of global warning and warming but we do. We all do in some way and in ways we don't realize.
All we care about is us right now and say the future will come and i will deal with it than. But what if the future doesn't come and than what. We have to wake up and do something about our world before it's gone and we can fulfill our dreams.

The Merchants of Cool

Is movie was a wow at the beginning because it tells you how much teens spent last year. It said that teens spent 100 billion and 50 more with parents. It is the credit cards and massive amounts of money that kids, teens get from their parents because their parents feel guilty. Guilty that they don't send that much time with their kids and in return they let them do whatever they want and spend how every much money they want too.
You as a person sees 3000 advertisements a day and are drawing into what they are selling even though you don't like it. Its all the bright lights, interesting slogan's and how they put their ad out there. You get caught up in all the rave about the product. How you will be able to use it and how cool you'll be if you get the product.
The industry has grown so much that they had to hire people specifically to find whats "COOL" in the world today. It is called cool hunting and it is to find cool or the new cool personality in teens. They find out new fashions, shows, movies, music, and everything else that teens love and like at that time. But when they find a new "cool" it is not cool no more. So it is a conscious process.
The biggest industry out there is Sprite because of how they put their product out their. They use music to reach out to the teens. It is mostly Hip Hop and that is why their product sells. They get all the big rappers, singers, and musicians to do concerts and sprite sponsors all of it. They get to know what the teens want and use that as a weapon and in return the teens buy their product.
Show TV industry and other corporations all lick together to sell all their products. How they brain wash the public that their product is the best one to buy. They use TV to get all little kids into buying toys in the first place. They brainwash all of us into getting and wanting their product . How watching their commercials on TV makes us wonder and than want.
We all get sucked into it too and can't deny it and buy the goods.
Then their is the TV shows that we all watch and start to copy and want to be just like the actors in the show. They started to use sex as a selling concept and it worked. They got more ratings and more people became interested in the show. It was a very big influence on girls and some boys. They all wanted to be like the people on TV and went to extreme measures to be like the actors. To to be as pretty and skinny as the people on TV and movies.
Media has so much to do with how society is today and how we act or do things. We all are in the system some how and can't live without it.
